BirdLife Denmark / Dansk Ornitologisk Forening
BirdLife Denmark (DOF) is a Danish nature conservation organization working to protect birds and their habitats in Denmark and internationally. The association was founded in 1906 and is today one of the most prominent actors in bird conservation and nature protection in Denmark.
DOF's Main Activities Include:
Monitoring Bird Populations – Through projects like DOFbasen and the Atlas Project, volunteers record bird populations and their development across Denmark.
Nature Conservation – DOF works to improve conditions for birds through lobbying efforts, protection of natural areas, and participation in international bird conservation projects.
Outreach and Education – The association publishes journals such as DOF BirdLife and organizes birdwatching trips, lectures, and activities for bird enthusiasts.
International Collaboration – DOF is the Danish partner of BirdLife International, the world’s largest network of nature and bird conservation organizations.
The organization has local branches across the country and a large group of dedicated volunteers, who help monitor and protect birdlife in Denmark.
