World Land Trust

World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation charity dedicated to protecting threatened natural areas and biodiversity worldwide. Founded in 1989, WLT is headquartered in the United Kingdom. The organization collaborates with local partners to purchase and preserve forests, grasslands, and other vital ecosystems that are crucial for endangered species.

What does World Land Trust do?

Land purchase for conservation – WLT raises funds to buy and protect threatened natural areas in partnership with local organizations. The organization has helped secure over 2.5 million hectares of land in countries including Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Belize, Colombia, and Malaysia.

Creation of nature reserves – WLT helps establish protected reserves, providing safe habitats for rare and endangered species, free from deforestation, hunting, or human disturbance.

Restoration of degraded ecosystems – WLT supports reforestation and ecological restoration in areas damaged by logging or agriculture.

CO₂ offsetting and climate initiatives – The organization enables businesses and individuals to offset their carbon footprint through forest conservation projects.

Support for local communities – WLT ensures that nature conservation efforts also benefit the communities living in and around protected areas.

Givskud Zoo Nature Foundation – We believe that giving more space to nature is one of the most important actions we can take for conservation. That’s why the foundation has purchased land through WLT in both Ecuador and South Africa, ensuring that the acquired areas remain protected as natural habitats.
